Afflecks Palace. One street I went through had some make shift old '1920's' style shops signs and chemist front windows being put up. There was a sign at the end of the street say 'filming in progress'. My first thought was some English period drama for tv was being shot. I later found out that it's the set for the upcoming super hero film - 'Captain America' !!! With Chris Evans, Jonny Depp etc. Awesome! I'll post some pics if I get any juicy ones.

Crytek have announced that CryEngine 3 will be revealed at the upcoming GDC. Cryengine 2 is still the best engine out there on the market in many ways, in my opinion. Best editor, best feature set, best rendering fidelity etc. I'm curious as to whether this is really a whole new iteration, or simply a refined version of CryEngine 2 with console support.

Either way its got me excited, and I hope Crytek continue to stay ahead of the game. There are far too many games out there that have jumped on the Unreal3 bandwagon. I want to see more games using CryEngine as middleware.

Developer Banter, Lists of Games

LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINK

I do enjoy it when developers give lists of favourite games and why. I find it almost impossible myself and If I do manage a 'top 10' list its almost immediately void when I remember one of those 'how could I forget' games and the whole list needs to be restructured.

Its always interesting and informative to hear other peoples opinions as a designer, and v. cool when you discover something new from it.

These lists of games are more based around Historically significant games or 'Canon' games and games that you should be playing right now, or 'Pop' games.

Tag the power of paint has players wield a paint gun, which squirts out coloured paint with special properties. Each different colour empowers the player with a different ability, Red being speed, Green jump and blue sticks you to walls. The game is a crazy puzzle platformer using and combing the powers to navigate increasingly complex levels. It also has a nice Cell Shaded aesthetic.

I remember playing the concept study demo of this a while back, i thought that it was going to be left as a concept but it seems it is being made into a full game, and i'm excited for it.

The game has a brilliant torn paper collage art style and an interesting gameplay style, where by you control the character with WASD controls, but also control the orientation of gravity using the directional controls, it makes for quite a unique platforming experience interspersed with gravity based puzzles. I look forward to the full version.

Samorost 1 + 2 are point and click adventure games, done very well in flash. Their style of play is more similar to the likes of the old 'Goblins' games rather than a Monkey Island game. The puzzles are fairly simple, but the journey is subtly amusing and enjoyable.
